In ArcGIS for Server, I've configured security to use the sql server identity store using the admin/rest site to update via json. We have windows server 2012 std hosting ArcGIS for Server 10.1 sp1 with clients running Win 7 Pro with ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1. I've tried updating display drivers, clearing out local ESRI files/templates, removing/editing registry entries, and a few other basic T/Sing steps. We're running 10.1 under XP SP3 on older dual-core 3.0 GHz machines with 2 GB RAM. I've tried mxd doctor, but it also hangs on opening the files. This seems to indicate corrupted files, but if they're somehow getting corrupted, it's happening to multiple files on our NAS device. I've tested it on different computers in the office, with identical behavior for the same files. This isn't happening on every mxd some open just fine, but I've seen it on several files that opened normally as recently as last week. I've let it go for a half-hour or more without success. It seems to be loading normally, but 5-10 seconds after reaching the "Loading Document." step, ArcMap spools up to 50% CPU usage (apparently fully utilizing one of my CPU's cores) and sits there. I've seen a number of threads on ArcMap hanging, and tried many of the solutions suggested, but no solution has worked for me yet, and my symptoms are a little different than what I've seen:ĪrcMap is hanging upon the "Loading Document" splashscreen.
